Lowering Expectations

Stayed home from work today. The cough is just about gone and the body aches are history. However, the 30 minute easy trainer ride just about tapped the power reserves. I missed two great training/equipment shake-down rides with the great weather we had this weekend.

Long story short, I don't have great expectations for Ouachita. Don't get me wrong; I'll still toe the start line. I just don't have confidence that the engine will be up to a top-10 performance.

The weather is supposed to turn to crap, so I don't know if I'll be able to give the new fork a workout before the pre-ride Saturday. The rest of the bike is good to go, so we'll just have to wing it...

Sometimes winging it works out just fine. Besides, you'll kick it and be regenerated by Sunday.

Man, I hope you're right. I feel a bit better every day, but this is not how I planned to spend the week before my first race of the year.

I'll call you when we get down there.
